Oluwatimilehin Akinyemi is a first generation Nigerian-born artist from Houston, Texas who synthesizes avenues of mixed-media collage and hand-crafted clay sculptures. Through the Gaze of introspection and color in his mixed-media pieces, he has developed his own inimitable style by creating spaces open for interpretation and discernment. Inspired by his lineage and passionately driven by a reverence for his culture, his sculptural work disrupts time and tangibly translates the rawness of indigenous people’s flesh within their primitive skin. The juxtaposition of mediums is emblematic of the conversation between Art vs. Artifact. Oluwah has also created a numerous amount of commissioned works of art.
